Before AI became a business talking point, our team was building custom AI systems for private-equity firms and clients including BCG.

We focused on practical problems: improving portfolio company performance, automating parts of due diligence, analyzing risk and helping large organizations run more efficiently.

That experience taught us something lasting: AI becomes valuable when it understands the business, has access to the work and can produce a measurable result.

That principle would later shape StartupStarter, S2X and Cortex.

We started StartupStarter in early 2020 as a private community for founders, offering free classes, practical resources and access to capital.

When the pandemic moved the world online, our community continued to grow through education, conversations and direct support. Those gatherings organically led us to produce investment conferences and large-scale events alongside leading names in venture, technology, finance and government.

Today, we run one of Southern California's largest venture communities. We host more than 30 annual events and reach over 35,000 newsletter subscribers, 42,000 Luma event-calendar subscribers and 5,000 annual event attendees.

Through our programs and events, we have worked with organizations including Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, J.P. Morgan, the Milken Institute, UCLA, USC, the City of Santa Monica and the City of Glendale.

The community was never built as a marketing funnel. It became the place where we learned, in real time, what founders were struggling with and what they needed next.

Running a growing community, producing events, managing partnerships and building a technology company exposed us to the same pressure facing our users.

Sales needed attention. Fundraising needed follow-up. Customers needed support. The inbox never stopped. Documents had to be created, sent and tracked. Meanwhile, the product still had to be built.

StartupStarter first took shape as an internal system designed to carry that load.

That origin still defines how we build. Whenever we create a tool our own company needs, we make that same capability available to our users.

We are a founder-first company building products for founders. We live the same journey, face the same pressure and build the systems we need to keep moving.

We brought CRM, email, documents, secure data rooms, fundraising, invoices, analytics and customer support into one connected account.

We needed more than another chatbot. We needed an agent that could understand our company, work across every system and pursue a real business goal.

So we built S2X as our own internal agent.

S2X is not an outbound machine built to send thousands of messages. It reasons through the goal, chooses the next action, executes the work and measures what happens. It can test different approaches, compare the results and improve based on what actually works.
